120 Bahadur Real Story:
The movie recounts the heroism of the battle of Rezang La and the courage shown by Major Shaitan Singh and his 120 Ahir soldiers ‘Charlie Company’ during the Indo-China war of 1962. The battle of Rezang La, fought on November 18, 1962, remains one of the most courageous chapters in India’s military history.
Set in the cold heights of the Ladakh region, the remote mountain pass became the scene of an intense confrontation during the Sino-India war. Despite a limited supply of resources and harsh weather, a small unit of 120 soldiers fought against a far larger number of invading forces.
The responsibility of defending Rezang La was handed over to Charlie Company of the 13 Kumaon Regiment. The unit filled with only Ahir soldiers from Haryana was led by Major Shaitan Singh. He and his company were slated to prevent Chinese troops from invading Chushul Valley. Well, the Charlie company troops were fully aware of the fact that the numbers game was against them. But they were prepared for what they thought was the final result.
Throughout the battle, Major Shaitan Singh moved frequently from one post to another, standing tall with his men despite having serious injuries. As the battle intensified, it became clear that the small Indian contingent was surrounded by the invading troops. Yet no soldier lost their position, showing immense courage and patriotism. Though the entire company was lost in the battle, their actions slowed the Chinese troops and safeguarded Chushul airfield.
Their bravery at Rezang La has become a symbol of absolute courage and duty. Major Shaitan Singh, who continued commanding until his last breath, was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his stubbornness to safeguard his motherland from unwanted invasion.
In 120 Bahadur, Farhan Akhtar as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati is leading a team of 120 Indian soldiers who heroically defended the Rezang La region during the conflict.
