World Students Day 2025: October 15 is celebrated as World Students’ Day every year to mark the birth anniversary of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, also known as the Missile Man of India, for his contributions as an aerospace scientist. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, to Jainulabdeen, a boat owner, and Ashiamma.
Coming from a humble background, he even sold newspapers as a child. From an early age, he was fascinated by aeroplanes, rockets, and space. Despite many challenges, he studied aeronautical engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) and became a leading figure in rocket and missile technology. His story continues to inspire millions.
Apart from Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, Dr Kalam was also honoured with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, for his contributions as the scientific advisor to the Indian government.
Even after becoming India’s president, Kalam enjoyed meeting school children and young people, always eager to answer their questions. He strongly believed that students are the future of the nation and can lead it to greater heights.
