UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the Civil Services 2023 Preliminary Paper 1 (General Studies) exam today. Paper 1 was conducted between 9:30 am to 11:30 am. This year the General Studies paper was tough for the candidates. Experts and examinees have accepted that the number of questions of moderate to difficult level was more in the examination.
UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2023: Paper pattern
In the Civil Services Pre Examination held on Sunday, the first paper of General Studies was held, in which 100 questions of 200 marks were asked. There were about 32 questions on geography, out of which 16 questions were related to the environment.

According to experts, only NCERT pattern questions have been asked in the exam. Questions ranging from President to Fundamental Rights, Modern India, Central India and Ancient India, as well as questions related to constitutional institutions were also asked. RA Khan, Director of Prayag IAS Academy, said that candidates who have attempted 45 to 50 questions in this paper have every chance of qualifying. He told that moderate to difficult questions were asked in the exam. Most of the questions are asked from a current perspective.
He told that the path to success is easy for the candidates who have prepared deeply. The second paper was on CSAT, in which 80 questions were asked for 200 marks. This is a qualifying paper. Ankit, who took the exam for the second time, said that this year more current-based questions were asked than last year. Another examinee Mukesh Negi told that this year the level of examination has been a bit difficult as compared to last year.
