New Delhi: The University Grant Commission (UGC) Wednesday chided at the colleges and universities denying refund to students seeking migration to another academic institutions.
The commission has warned such universities of cancellation of their eligibility to receive grants under Section 12B of the UGC Act, 1956. Additionally, the UGC may also recommend affiliated universities to call off their affiliation with these institutions.
In an official notification, the UGC also warned that it may propose government to cancel the status of the university who violates the order.
The warning came after several universities charged financial penalties despite an earlier order of UGC asking to refund the entire fees.
Many students have been withdrawing their admissions from private universities during on-going session after the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) results were declared. As the CUET result was halted for a while, many anxious students enrolled themselves in private universities.

For the first time, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had conducted CUET for undergraduate and post-graduate admissions at participating central universities.
The CUET-UG result was declared on September 16, whereas CUET-PG results was out on September 26.
