New Delhi: Haling from Telangana’s Hyderabad, 18-year-old Vedant has received a scholarship of Rs 1.3 crore from the Case Western Reserve University in United States. While talking to News24, Vendant mentions that ‘like every other normal kid’ he was equally confused about life, career and future.

Vedant tells News24, he visited plenty of counselors who suggested him to wait until 12 to start planning future. But Vendant said that he belives an age of 10, 12, 13… is okay to think about colleges as it gives you enough time to follow your passion.

My values stand to my grandfather

“That comes from my grandfather who was a collector in Karnataka, my values do stand from him,” says Vendant. He says these values even enhanced during his three-month Career Development Programme in Dexterity.
“I feel absolutely blur being among 17 laureatus and top professors in the world. I’m sure that my education in the next four years, would be nothing short of excellence,” he says.

Willing to work for society

Vedant Anandwade confidently replies, “Other than going into the field of medicine and becoming a surgent in the future, I will work for society.” He also added that by ensuring society’s development, he will do his part for nation building.

Anandwade who made his way to a prestigious university in United States, was very confident while saying that he will work for the nation regardless of where he live.

Foreign universities have different perspective

On being asked why did he choose a university outside India, he points out that there is a difference regarding environment and perspective. He says the approach of universities in abroad is bit more practical and not just bookish and theoretical.
He says it sounds difficult to adjust to Indian education environment. Vendant further says that he would change the stigma that “education is everything that matters in the world”, if he gets a chance.
Vendant further asserts that the Indian education system focuses on academics only which does not teach social and emotional skills. Meanwhile, he says, the American university definitely looks at these skills.

Vendant suggest students to Dream

“Dream every year, every month,” he suggests to every student also asking them to stick to their dreams whether they are possible or not.
“I was not an excellent student, I was an average,” he says. He suggests every student to look for extra curricular activities and never rethink about indulging into it. However, he says, the academics should be your top priority.

Life during Dexterity

“Dexterity is what changed my life at the age of 16,” says Vedant. During his time Dexterity Global, Vedant had worked with a group of five students on a project regarding climate change and they will further pitch in their idea in UNESCO in Paris in November.

Vedant’s father Dr. Prabhu Anandwade

Meanwhile, Vendant’s father tells News24 that three things helped his son getting there, which is, discipline, consistency and practice. “In Indian words, Sanskar,” he adds.
Vendant’s father, Dr. Prabhu Anandwade, was proud to tell that his son has covered 40 per cent of the expenses for studies. He said the cost of a direct flight to America is 2.50 lakhs but Vendant said that he would fly to Hong Kong first and then to America.
Dr. Anandwade says that there are several challenges with the second option. But Vendant insisted so he could save the money and use it for buying laptop and other useful accessories.
Vedant’s father quoted a famous saying “Padhoge-likhoge, hoge kharabh. Kheloge-kedege, banoge Nawab”. He says every child should explore all activities and parents should support them.
