Amid the worsening weather conditions, several states have officially announced the closure of schools tomorrow. Rajasthan
Due to Teja Dashmi and Ramdev Jayanti, September 2 will be observed as a restricted holiday in Rajasthan. Schools will remain shut tomorrow. However, students and parents must check for official updates from their respective school administration.
Delhi
Heavy rain lashed Delhi-NCR on Monday evening, plunging the city into darkness afterward. There is a possibility that the education ministry might announce a school holiday in parts of the national capital on September 2. Schools are supposed to operate as normal until an official confirmation is provided regarding the same.
Gurugram
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Gurugram city. The official notification of the District Disaster Management Authority reads, “In view of the above forecast, all Corporate offices and Private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to work from home; and all schools in the district are advised to conduct Online classes on 02-09-2025.”
Jammu And Kashmir
The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has announced that all government and private schools in the Jammu Division will remain closed on Tuesday, September 2. This step has been taken in response to the heavy rainfall and weather alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Punjab
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Monday announced the closure of schools in all government and private schools in Punjab until September 3, 2025. The step has been taken keeping in view the flood situation in the state.
West Bengal
The Met Department has predicted heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of West Bengal till Tuesday. An alert has been sounded in South and North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Kolkata, and Howrah. In light of the situation, there are chances that schools in affected regions may be shut on September 2. An official confirmation is still awaited.
Uttarakhand
Schools will remain closed in all Anganwadi centers and schools (Class 1 to 12) in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on September 2, as heavy rain and landslides continue to wreak havoc.
Kerala
Schools in Kerala will remain closed till September 7, due to the traditional 10-day Onam break. Classes will commence on September 8, 2025.
Himachal Pradesh
Following multiple landslides in Himachal Pradesh, triggered by heavy rainfall, schools will remain closed in several districts such as Shimla, Solan, and Bilaspur, on September 2.
