School Holiday on September 1, 2025: September is set to kick off with little or no respite from the ongoing rainy conditions. Amid IMD’s weather alerts, parents and students are speculating whether schools will remain shut tomorrow, September 1, 2025. Although rain-related disruptions have previously forced shutdowns in several states till August 31, here is a list of state-wise school closures on Monday.
Jammu And Kashmir
The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Sunday announced that all government and private schools in the Jammu Division will remain closed until Monday, September 1. This step has been taken in response to the heavy rainfall and weather alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Punjab
In a post on X, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced, “In accordance with the directives of the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann Ji, keeping in view the flood situation in Punjab, holidays have been declared in all government/aided/recognized and private schools in the state until September 3, 2025.” Meanwhile, he urged the parents and students to prioritize safety and comply with the instructions issued by the administration.
Uttarakhand
Schools may remain closed in several hilly districts in Uttarakhand tomorrow, September 1, as heavy rain and landslides continue to wreak havoc. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.
Andhra Pradesh
Schools in parts of Andhra Pradesh, affected due to relentless heavy rain, could stay closed on September 1 in light of the ongoing rainy conditions. An official confirmation is, however, awaited.
Himachal Pradesh
Amid landslides and flash floods, authorities may announce the closure of schools for the next few days if conditions worsen. There are chances that September 1 may be declared a holiday in the most-affected areas.
Kerala
Schools in Kerala will remain closed till September 7, due to the traditional 10-day Onam break. Classes will commence on September 8, 2025.
