Renowned Singer Pankaj Udhas Passes Away

Renowned ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas passed away at 72 after a prolonged illness. Born on May 17, 1951, in Gujarat, his soulful renditions like 'Chitthi Aayi Hai' earned him widespread acclaim. He received the Padma Shri in 2006 for his significant contributions to music.

Pankaj Udhas, the veteran singer, passed away at the age of 72. His team confirmed his demise on the morning of February 26, stating that he had been battling a prolonged illness and had been unwell for the past few days. He took his last breath his last around 11 am at Breach Candy Hospital.

His daughter also took to social media and wrote “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness”

Pankaj Udhas, celebrated as one of India’s premier ghazal singers, was born on May 17, 1951, in Gujarat. His soulful renditions and mastery of ghazals garnered widespread acclaim, propelling him to fame during the 1980s and 1990s. With his rich, melodious voice and emotive performances, Udhas cultivated a large and devoted fan base, both domestically and internationally.

Pankaj Udhas’s illustrious career boasts several iconic ghazals, including ‘Chitthi Aayi Hai’, ‘Aur Aahista Kijiye Baatein’, ‘Chandi Jaisa Rang Hai Tera’, and ‘Na Kajre Ki Dhar’, among others.
