NEET UG 2024 Updates: Supreme Court Sets Date For Next Hearing

Today, the Supreme Court heard multiple petitions about the NEET exam paper leak. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra, gathered details on the matter. Currently, 38 petitions related to the NEET paper leak are awaiting resolution.

During the NEET hearing, the Chief Justice inquired whether the exam was exceptionally easy this time, noting that 67 students scored 100 percent. This suggests the paper may have been made simpler. The court directed the NTA to provide a response regarding the paper leak. The next hearing is scheduled for July 11.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the paper leak occurred at a single location. Acknowledging this, the police have arrested the accused, and legal action is underway in the matter.

Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud commented on the Gujarat students’ petition, advising them to wait until all the details of the case are revealed.

The Supreme Court has begun hearing the NEET 2024 petition. A group of 56 students from Gujarat has collectively filed a petition requesting that the exam not be canceled. These students have opposed all petitions calling for a re-examination.

The Supreme Court’s vacation bench had set July 8 as the date to begin NEET counseling, but it was postponed by the NTA. The counseling, originally scheduled to start on July 6, has been delayed without a new start date announced.

NTA has firmly denied any allegations of a NEET exam paper leak, stating that canceling the exam without concrete evidence could jeopardize the future of lakhs of students.

38 petitioners have approached the Supreme Court alleging irregularities in the NEET exam, with many demanding its cancellation and a re-examination. The vacation bench previously declined to cancel the exam, and today’s Supreme Court decision on this matter is awaited.

The NEET 2024 exam took place on May 5 across over 100 centers nationwide, with over 23 lakh students participating. Reports of a paper leak surfaced the next day, leading to arrests by the Patna Police.

Results for NEET 2024 were announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 4, revealing 67 students scoring a perfect 720 out of 720 marks. However, controversies arose over the inclusion of grace marks for many students, prompting NTA to conduct a re-examination on June 23 for 1,563 students who received grace marks. Results from this re-examination were declared on June 30, reducing the number of top scorers from 67 to 61.
