New Delhi: As the Delhi University (DU) kicks off its mission admission, aspiring undergraduate students are eagerly anticipating the release of the first cut-off list today. With over 2.4 lakh applicants seeking admission, the competition for coveted seats in the esteemed university has intensified. CUET and the surge in applications
Last year, the introduction of the Common Undergraduate Entrance Test (CUET) under the National Education Policy 2020 paved the way for centralized admissions based on merit. This single entrance exam grants equal opportunities to students from various regions of the country, ensuring a level playing field for all applicants, irrespective of their board exam scores.
DU’s resurgence in popularity
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Delhi University has witnessed a resurgence in popularity among students. Compared to last year’s application count of 1.65 lakh, the current academic year has seen a staggering 2.45 lakh students vying for admission. The university’s reputation for quality education and its college rankings have contributed to this overwhelming response.

Admission process and cut-off lists
With the first cut-off list set to be released on August 1st, the mission admission has officially begun. Students will have until 5th August to apply for their desired courses and colleges. The university will verify the applications and approve seats by 6th August. Following this, students can complete their fee payment by the given deadline.
Inclusive seat allocation
In an effort to ensure inclusivity and diversity, Delhi University has allocated 20% additional seats in the Unreserved (UR), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories. Similarly, there is a 30% increase in seats for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) students.
