The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam is considered one of the toughest and most respected exams in India. Every year, lakhs of candidates appear for the exam, but only a few are selected for top government services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other central services. The UPSC Civil Services Examination is held in three stages, the Preliminary exam, the Main exam, and the Interview. Clearing all three stages requires years of hard work, discipline, and determination.
Among those who succeeded is Sulochana Meena, a 22-year-old woman from a small village in Rajasthan, who became one of the youngest IAS officers in the country by clearing the exam on her first attempt.
Sulochana Meena belongs to Adalwada village in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. She appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021 and secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 415 in the ST category. Her success brought pride to her family and village.
She scored 762 marks in the written examination and 171 marks in the interview, taking her total score to 933 marks.
Sulochana completed her schooling in her hometown before moving to Delhi for higher studies. She later graduated in Botany from Delhi University.
From a young age, Sulochana dreamed of becoming an IAS officer. During her UPSC preparation, she studied for 8 to 9 hours every day. She regularly took mock tests and used free study materials from platforms like YouTube and Telegram. She mainly focused on NCERT books, which helped her build strong basic knowledge.
At present, Sulochana Meena is posted as an IAS officer in Jharkhand. Her journey from a small village to one of India’s most prestigious services continues to inspire thousands of UPSC aspirants across the country.
