New Delhi: With constantly increasing reports of environment degradation making headlines almost everyday, it is imperative to make environment healthier by activities like planting trees. With this thought in the backdrop, D.El.Ed. students and faculty members of DIET Pitampura carried out a plantation drive at their campus on Monday morning during the ongoing HARYALI UTSAV.
With a vow to save environment, the future teachers planted saplings in the DIET campus which was followed by a campus tree walk and extension lecture by resource persons from GIVE ME TREE TRUST – a leading organisation working to save environment. Plantation drive was organized at DIET Pitampura campus by the faculty and students. They planted more than 200 saplings in the campus, such as peepal, neem, amla, jamun, baheda etc. Notably, the plantation drive was organised to encourage the youngsters towards healthy life and also to inculcate a sense of responsibility and sensitivity towards environment among them. All the participants enthusiastically participated in the drive and contributed their bit in the plantation drive.
Principal of DIET Pitampura, Dr. Ranjana Ruhela inaugurated the programme by planting the first sapling. She also shared her vision to motivate DIET students to participate in such programmes frequently, and appreciated the efforts made by them in various activities like tree plantation, slogan writing, poster making, talks, debates and workshops to save environment carried out during the weeklong ongoing ‘HARYALI UTSAV’ programme.
