DU Admissions 2022: Delhi University (DU) will soon start the physical trials for admissions to its sports quota seats. Last year, there were a total of 4.83 lakh registrations for its undergraduate courses, out of which 8,283 applications were for the sports category seats.
Eligible Sports/Games
There are 28 eligible sports/games to apply through the sports quota. These include archery, athletics, baseball, boxing, chess, cricket, diving, fencing, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, kabaddi, netball, shooting, softball, squash, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, kho-kho, taekwondo, badminton, basketball, and football.
Students are informed that they can apply for the quota seats through a maximum of three sports/games. However, for male students, all the above sports are applicable except netball and softball. On the other hand, for female students, all the above sports are applicable except baseball.
How to apply for a sports quota?
First, candidates have to register themselves online through DU’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). After that, in the application form, they have to choose their preferred college and programme preferences. Along with the CSAS application fee, candidates have to pay an additional fee.
Who can skip trials?
Candidates who have represented India in the following competitions are excused from sports trials:
- Summer Olympic Games by the International Olympic Committee.
- World Championship/World Cup by International Sports Federation.
- Commonwealth Games
- Asian Games
- Asian Senior Championship
- South Asian Games
- Paralympic Games organised by the International Paralympic Committee
Note: Such candidates will have to appear for the common minimum eligibility criteria, the programme-specific eligibility criteria. Their admission will be based on the programme and college preference selected by them on the portal. The selection will also be done by the number of excessive seats available under the sports quota in a particular college.
Marking Scheme
Candidates must take participation in either national or state or district-level competitions that are recognised and funded by the Union Sports Ministry, Student Game Federation of India, SSA, SDoE, SSB, BSA, DDoeE or DSB.

- 25% weightage to uploaded merit/participation sports certificates
- 25% weightage to CUET score
- 50% weightage to performance in sports trial
Validity of certification
Candidates are informed that the validity of certification is up to five years, obtained between April 1, 2017, to June 30, 2022. The applicants are allowed to submit a maximum of three certificates, and the highest marks will only be considered.
This year, the university will announce dates for the trials around October 10, 2022.
