Delhi nursery admission 2026-27: The Delhi government has released the full schedule and guidelines for Nursery, KG, and Class 1 admissions in private schools for the 2026-27 academic year. The admission process will officially begin on 4 December 2025, and all schools are required to adhere strictly to the deadlines specified in the latest circular from the Directorate of Education (DoE). Following the age criteria under the National Education Policy (NEP), the eligible ages as of 31 March 2026 are:
- Nursery (Balvatika 1 / Pre-School 1): 3+ to under 4 years
- KG (Balvatika 2 / Pre-Primary): 4+ to under 5 years
- Class 1: 5+ to under 6 years
Children already enrolled in Nursery and KG during the 2025-26 session will automatically move up to KG and Class 1, respectively.
Delhi Nursery Admission 2026-27: Eligibility
For admission in 2026-27:
- Nursery: Child should be at least 3 years old as of 31 March 2026.
- KG: Child should be at least 4 years old.
- Class 1: Child should be at least 5 years old.
Schools can allow an age relaxation of up to one month, decided by the head of the school.
Note: Children already in Nursery in 2025-26 will automatically move to KG in 2026-27, and those in KG will move to Class 1. Therefore, Nursery admissions in 2026-27 are only for children who have turned 3 but not 4 by 31 March 2026.
Nursery Admission 2026-27: Documents Required
Parents will need the following documents to complete the application:
- Ration Card or Smart Card in the name of the parents
- Domicile certificate of the child or parents
- Voter ID (EPIC) of either parent
- Electricity, MTNL telephone, or water bill, or Passport of the child/parents
- Aadhaar Card/UID of either parent

The DoE has shared detailed instructions for admissions. Schools must maintain transparency, and whether admissions are done via computerised system or traditional slips, the draw of lots should be conducted in the presence of parents.
