CLAT 2023: Candidates who have registered themselves for the national level law entrance exam CLAT 2023 are informed that this exam is scheduled to be held tomorrow, December 18, from 2 pm to 4 pm. The exam will be conducted at 127 test centres in 23 states and 2 union territories across India. The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) gave the exam instructions to all the participating applicants. Candidates are advised to stick to the guidelines noted on their respective admit cards on the exam day.

Important instructions

Reporting to the test Centre and test timings:
  • Candidates may enter the testing facility starting at 1:00 pm
  • No one will be allowed to enter the exam room after 2:15 p.m., and no one will be allowed to leave before 4 p.m.
Permitted items:
  • Admit card (In case the photograph is not clear on the admit card, bring a self-attested photograph)
  • A Government ID proof
  • Black or blue ballpoint pen
  • Transparent water bottle
  • Face mask
  • An analogue watch
  • PwDs/ SAPs should carry their original Disability Certificate
Items not permitted: Digital watches, headphones, and mobile phones are examples of electronic devices. Attendance: The attendance form that was passed out during the test asks you to fill out the space/column with your name, the QB number, and the OMR sheet number. Question Booklet and OMR sheet:
  • 150 multiple-choice questions will be included in the question booklet (QB), along with 2 blank pages for scribbling. There won't be any extra paper provided for sloppy work.
  • At the start of the test, enter your admission card number on the first page of the QB.
  • Use only a black or blue ballpoint pen to respond to the questions on the separate carbonised Optical Mark Reader (OMR) response sheet that was included with the QB.
  • After the test, candidates can keep the QB and their copy of the OMR sheet.
Marking scheme: 
  • Each correct response earns one mark. 0.25 marks are deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • Unanswered questions will not result in deductions.

1:30 pm Long Bell Candidates can enter the exam hall
1:50 pm Short Bell Distribution of the sealed envelopes and announcement of instructions by the invigilators
2:00 pm Long Bell Commencement of the test.
2:15 pm Short Bell No candidate will be allowed to enter the test centre after this time
3:00 pm Short Bell Marks the completion of 60 (sixty) minutes of the test
3:50 pm Short Bell Warning bell to indicate that 10 (ten) minutes are remaining for the test to end
4:00 pm Long Bell Marks the completion of the test. No candidate will be allowed to write anything on the omr response sheet/ question booklet after this bell
