The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will not allocate divisions or distinctions to students in the class 10 and 12 board exams. The decision was revealed by CBSE Examination Controller, Sanyam Bhardwaj, through an official statement. The release clarified that the responsibility to determine the best five subjects for calculating students’ marks would lie with the admitting college.

“If a candidate has taken more than five subjects, the selection of the best five subjects will be decided by the admitting institution or employer. Moreover, the Board does not compute/declare/inform the percentage of marks. If needed for higher education or employment, any calculation will be done by the admitting institution or employer,” stated the release.

This information was shared in response to queries about the criteria for calculating students’ percentages in the board examinations.

Earlier, the board had declared that the exams for class 10 and 12 students would commence from February 15. Last year, CBSE decided not to issue any merit list or announce toppers for the class 10 and 12 board exams. The board’s statement regarding the results mentioned that this decision was taken to discourage unhealthy competition among students.

Regarding the CBSE Date Sheet 2024, it is expected to be released in December 2023. The exams are scheduled to take place between February 15 and April 10, 2024. Students preparing for the upcoming CBSE Board exams can access the timetable on the official website: cbse.gov.in.
