Despite continuous efforts by the Bihar government to enhance the state’s education system, a significant issue of negligence has come to light involving both the students and the state’s education department. Consequently, the Education Department of Bihar has revoked the registration of over 2 million students attending government schools in the state due to prolonged absenteeism.

Action Taken Against Students Absent for 15 Consecutive Days

The Education Department has initiated action against a total of 2,087,063 students enrolled in government schools across the state. These students were found to be absent for a continuous period of 15 days without seeking prior permission from education department officials. As a result, the Education Department has taken stringent measures. Consequently, students falling within this action’s purview will be ineligible to participate in the 10th and 12th board examinations.

Parents Must Provide an Affidavit

Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, KK Pathak, has clarified that students affected by this action will only be permitted to appear in board examinations once their parents submit an affidavit, pledging that their children will not repeat the mistake. Additionally, on the instructions of Additional Chief Secretary K.K. Pathak, Block Education Officers, and District Education Officers have been directed to conduct thorough inspections of government schools within their jurisdictions. Strict measures have also been advised for those who fail to comply.

Furthermore, the Education Department’s Additional Chief Secretary in Bihar has communicated with the District Magistrates of all Bihar districts, instructing them to issue initial notices to students who remain absent for three consecutive days.
