Agniveer first batch: The first batch of soldiers recruited under the Agneepath scheme joined the Navy on Tuesday. The first batch of Agniveer soldiers completed their training with a passing-out parade at INS Chilka. Its most important thing is that the parade, traditionally held in the morning, will now be held after sunset for the first time.
How many women are in this batch?
There are a total of 2,600 Agniveers including 273 women soldiers in the first batch of Agniveers. All these 2,600 Agniveers have completed their 16-week training program in the Indian Navy.
Important things about the first batch of Agniveer
- The passing out parade of the first Agniveer batch can be viewed online on the official YouTube channel and Instagram page of the Indian Navy. It will also be telecast live on the Doordarshan network.
- For the first time, the parade will be held after sunset at INS Chilka, Odisha on 28 March.
- 2,600 Agniveers have completed 16 weeks of the initial phase of training in various areas including POP service, academic and outdoor.
- The first batch also includes Agniveer who was part of the Republic Day parade contingent of the Indian Navy on the line of duty on 26 January this year.

- The parade will be in the presence of sportspersons, and senior naval officers.
- Former Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj and PT Usha will also be among the chief guests of the event.
- The daughters of India’s first Chief of Defense Staff will give awards to women firefighters.
- The ‘General Bipin Rawat Rolling Trophy’ will also be given to the woman soldier who topped the training among qualified women firefighters of the Indian Navy.
- The event will be attended by officers of the POP Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief.
- The training of these Agniveers started at INS Chilka in November 2022 under the Agneepath Recruitment Scheme.
