New Delhi: As many as 54 people died in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia allegedly due to the ‘heatstroke’ in the past three days. However, most of the deceased were aged above 60 years.

As per the media reports, health officials have informed that Ballia is reeling under sever heatstroke and people, unable to bear the temperature, are getting hospitalised due to bad health.

Noting the death count, the Uttar Pradesh government ordered a probe in the matter, A committee was formed headed by two director-level health department officials and was sent to Ballia to find out the cause of the deaths.

Meanwhile, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Diwakar Singh was sacked from his post after he gave “a careless statement on deaths caused by heatwave without having proper information,” reported the Indian Express.

Following the surge in admission of patients, the medical staff has been increased whereas, fans, coolers and air conditioners have been arranged in the hospital.
