Howrah: Around three people were killed while several others were injured in an road accident took place on Thursday evening. As per the police, a bus collided with a truck in Howrah district of West Bengal.
The incident took place after a tyre of the bus burst near Dhulorbadh area in Panchla, reported PTI. After which, the vehicle rammed into the truck coming from opposite direction.
The police informed that in the accident, the front portion of the bus, which was overcrowded, was damaged in the accident. As many as three people died on the spot while more than 20 others were injured. The police rushed all the passengers to the hospital.

Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. The CM also announced an amount of Rs 2 lakh to the families of three dead people.
CM Banerjee tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the tragic accident in Panchla, Howrah which led to the death of 3 people and 21 injured. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured and offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved families.”
“GoWB will provide ₹ 2 lakh to the families of the victims and are extending all assistance possible to those injured,” she added.
