Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Authority has announced the launch of an e-bus service to address the public transport issues in the industrial city. Initially, 10 e-buses will be introduced, and more buses will be added based on demand. The service is expected to commence within the next two to three months. This decision comes after the unsuccessful attempt to establish a city bus service in Greater Noida, which residents have been requesting for some time.
To tackle the lack of public transport, the authority has chosen to operate electric buses. Although no specific date has been set for the service to start, the CEO has directed the relevant officers to develop an action plan for the e-bus operation. The authority is also open to proposals from interested companies for running the electric bus service under certain terms and conditions. If no suitable proposal is received, the authority will proceed with initiating the e-bus service on its own.
Greater Noida Authority CEO Ravikumar NG said, “We have decided to provide a safe and pollution-free city bus service to the citizens. Initially, the bus service will cover the main roads of the city including main roads, markets and government offices. At present there will be 10 e-buses and later the number will be increased if the service receives a good response from the users.”
