Uttarakhand: A bus with 50 pilgrims from Punjab travelling from Reetha Sahib Gurudwara overturned around 10 p.m. on Sunday near Dhaun, which is 20 km from Uttarakhand’s Champawat district headquarters. All the pilgrims got injured and were rushed to the hospital.
It was informed that seven of the 61 pilgrims on the bus were seriously injured and were taken to a hospital in Haldwani after receiving first aid and now they are stable. Eighteen injured people were admitted to the district hospital, while the remainder were released with minor injuries.
Reeth Sahib Gurudwara is about 80 kilometres from Champawat district headquarters in Ladhiya Valley. Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, is said to have visited Reetha Sahib in 1501 with his student Mardana to debate with local seers. Throughout the year, pilgrims from all over the country and the world visit the gurdwara. Every year in June, a three-day fair is held there.
