The video of the incident was captured by passers-by in which a school girl was seen riding a bicycle and being followed by a police officer identified as Shahdat Ali. At the time of the incident, the officer was dressed in uniform. When a bystander objected to the officer’s behaviour, he claimed that the girl was his daughter’s friend.

DCP East Lucknow Hirdesh Kumar said, “A case was registered under appropriate sections of the IPC dealing with harassment by a government employee and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.”

Ali had been following the girl for some time, according to sources.

Ali, a police control room operator, is currently assigned to the PGI neighbourhood. Ali can be seen in the video gently creeping beside the girl on her bicycle. He can be seen asking the girl to talk to him, and she appears embarrassed and nervous.
