Uttar Pradesh: The UP Anti-Terrorist Squad (UP ATS) has conducted raids in seven districts of UP, including Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, to arrest the accused associated with the Popular Front of India (PFI). So far, 70 people have been detained in the raid. A few months ago, the NIA also picked up several members of the PFI.
During the raids, two of the accused, Parvez Ahmed and Rais Ahmed who were carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000, were arrested from Varanasi, according to a police news release.
According to ANI, raids have been conducted by UP ATS in Lucknow, Meerut, Moradabad, Varanasi, Azamgarh, Saharanpur, Ghaziabad and other cities of the state. Around 55 people have been detained so far. UP ATS is interrogating 55 people associated with PFI and its affiliated organisations. ATS is also collecting information about their bank accounts and financial transactions.

A report said that even on April 25, action was taken against PFI members in several states including Uttar Pradesh. A total of 17 locations in these states were raided by AANI. The Popular Front of India (PFI) was banned by the Central Government. People associated with this organization were arrested as soon as the ban was imposed.
