Uttar Pradesh: A 20-year-old college student was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district by two men on a motorcycle during the day on Monday. Police arrested one accused, who was identified as Raj Ahirwar, on the basis of her parents’ complaint.
The accused was arrested after an altercation with police in which he was shot. According to police, the accused assaulted the student after she allegedly declined his marriage proposal. Attempts are being made to apprehend the second accused. The incident occurred as the deceased, Roshini Ahirwar, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) student at Ram Lakhan Patel Degree College, was heading home after taking a college examination.
Alok Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) said, “Her father Man Singh said she was returning home after her exam when she was shot in her head.”
He added, “The assailants used a country-made pistol and had abandoned the weapon on the spot before escaping.”
Iraj Raja SP said, “As Raj wanted to marry her, Rohini had started distancing herself from him. Angered by this, he followed her on Monday and along with one of his cousins, killed her.”
He even added that when Ahirwar was detained, he was taken to retrieve the motorbike number plate he had disassembled. During this time, he stole a local station house officer’s duty gun and fired at police officers. In retaliation, the cops shot him in the legs.
