New Delhi: A transgender person was stabbed and then forced to drink phenyl as she refused to withdraw a rape complaint against the accused. The victim alleged that she was sexually assaulted in the year 2014. 

Stabbed and attacked with blade

A 28-year-old transgender person was allegedly attacked with a blade and forced to drink phenyl. This was done as the victim refused to withdrew the rape case, informed the Santa Cruz police.

A complaint of attempt to murder has been registered in this regard. The police have arrested one of the attackers while the other two, the rape accused and his wife, are still on the run.

Accused attacked the victim

According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday around 1.45 am when the victim was going home along with a friend. Upon reaching Juhu Tara Road, the three accused came out from an auto rickshaw and attacked the victim on her neck and shoulder with a blade and tried to force her to drink phenyl, after which they fled the scene.

Senior police inspector of Santa Cruz police station, Balasaheb Tambe, said, “We received a complaint regarding this incident and made the first arrested from Vile Parle. The other two, who are husband and wife, are currently absconding but we are on a look out for them. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against them.”

Victim has filed a case in 2014

The victim had registered a case of rape in 2014 against one of the accused who tried stabbed her. As per the victim, she was receiving continuous threats  to withdraw the case.

The victim is currently in a stable condition. She has received multiple stitches on her wounds. She is admitted in hospital where she is undergoing treatment.
