Tragic! Celebratory fire menace haunts again; Groom shoots Army Jawan friend during wedding procession

An army personnel was killed in friend's wedding after the groom accidentally shot a celebratory fire during procession here. The pistol that was used to fire the shot belonged to the deceased army personnel named Babu Lal Yadav.

Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh: An army personnel was killed in friend's wedding after the groom accidentally shot a celebratory fire during procession here. The pistol that was used to fire the shot belonged to the deceased army personnel named Babu Lal Yadav.

Soon after Yadav got injured, he was taken to the hospital immediately but he died during the treatment. Following the incident, the family of the deceased has registered an FIR against the groom, Manish Madheshia.

Sonbhadra SP Amrendra Pratap Singh informed that the groom has been detained while the pistol has been confiscated too.

Despite proper laws against the celebratory firings, such incidents are still not declining. Earlier in December 2019, the Centre had introduced some changes in the Arms Act. Under it, celebratory firing even with licensed guns at public gatherings, religious places, marriage or other functions a criminal offence following the two years' imprisonment and fine.

Earlier this month in Bihar's Begusarai, a kid took a shot during a reception party. The incident took place in Birpur village where the kids were dancing and someone shot celebratory fire. The 10-year-old boy got injured critically and then, taken to hospital.
