New Delhi: A rape accused who was out on bail has been arrested after he secretly married a minor girl whom he sexually assaulted in 2021 after which he was jailed.

As per media reports, the case pertains to Panavoor in Nedumangadu in Thiruvananthapuram district in Kerala.

Along with the accused, the police has arrested the father of the minor girl (16) and the cleric in a local mosque who were involved in marrying off the rape surviour on 18 January who was underage.

The incient came into light after the school authorities receievd the information and started questioning about the incident. Following which, they informed the police.

Jailed in 2021 in rape case

According to the media reports, the main accused has been identified as Al-Amir. According to the information, he was arrested in 2021 for raping the victim. After which he was still out on bail.

A case was registered against him last year on the basis of a complaint by the girl’s family. After which he was jailed, but he was released on bail and was constantly trying to persuade the girl’s family to marry him.

Amir, the girl’s father and the cleric have been booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. A local court ordered their custody and sent them to jail, police said.
