Ayodhya: The problem of electricity in the religious city of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, is going to end completely. If district administration officials are to be believed, the Yogi government is planning to set up a ‘Solar City’ on 500 acres near the Saryu River in Ayodhya. The project is also very important for Ram Janmabhoomi and the complex.
According to information, this project is expected to end the power requirement and problems in Ayodhya to a large extent. The district administration officials said Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has already prepared a detailed project report (DPR). Along with this, the survey work has also been completed.
It has been told that work is being started in Ayodhya on the lines of the Solar City project established on the banks of the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. However, an official of the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Authority (UPNEDA) associated with the project said the river’s “predictable” nature (prone to floods) is a problem that is affecting the project and its developers.
The district administration said that green energy projects will be given to government departments. Officials have said that so far, solar lights have been installed at 450 places and solar panels in eight government buildings, including the collectorate, commissioner’s office, and treasury.
BJP MP from Ayodhya Lallu Singh said that in February this year, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced to develop Ayodhya as a model solar city and implement the project in other cities as well. He also announced that the state government has allocated Rs 317 crore for the Solar Energy Policy-2022 in the recent budget.
