Lucknow: In a shocking case from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, a widow had been residing in the same residence with her husband for 17 months after his death. She used vermilion in his name, kept Karva Chauth fast for him, and her family supported her in all of this. When the police went to her residence to investigate, they discovered that her husband’s body had become black like coal, and the family members were still refusing to acknowledge his death.
This incident occurred on an unnamed street in Roshanpura, Kanpur, where Mithali, 30, lives in a house with her in-laws. She is employed by a government bank. Mithali married a man from Kanpur who used to work in Delhi in 2016. They have a daughter and a boy.
However, due to failing health, the husband person died in April 2021. Even after his death, his family members began to believe he was still alive, and she remained at home with the dead body for 17 months.
Mithali revealed truth
When the police learned the truth about Mithali and her family, she told them that when her husband’s condition was critical and the doctor issued a death certificate, someone came home and implanted an oximeter, and his pulse was seen moving. The fact that he was alive caused a commotion throughout the home. He was placed on a bed, and the entire home began to believe he was still alive.
Mithali stated that she knew her husband was dead, but she was also forced to pretend he was alive owing to family members. Every day, she had to apply vermilion in the name of my husband and observe the Karva Chauth fast.
“I didn’t even notify my house or bank colleagues that my husband’s body was in my house. The family members used to use some tricks to keep the corpse from smelling.”
Police were chocked
When the police arrived to her house at the end of September to investigate, they discovered that the deceased’s corpse was entirely black, practically charred, and his eyes were fully closed.
In such a case, they took charge of the body and incinerated it. However, the family members were still unable to accept that their son had died. Mithali, on the other hand, has realised that her husband is not in this world.
