Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu: A 62-year-old man was arrested by police in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, for sexually abusing girls. This elderly man is accused of harassing girls between the ages of 9 and 13 over a four-year period. The 62-year-old man used to own a shop near the school and would prey on girls passing by or purchasing items.
These cases came to light after the police launched a public awareness campaign called ‘Project Pallikoodam.’ The goal of this campaign was to raise awareness among children about sexual assaults.
Many girls felt compelled to complain because of this campaign. One of the victims informed the school’s principal that she had been harassed by a man who ran a shop near the school.
The principal of the school asked the other female students if anything similar had happened to them. 14 other girls spoke up and recounted their ordeal.
The school’s principal then filed a complaint with the police, who arrested Natarajan at the women’s police station. On Sunday, he was taken into custody.
