Dehradun: A case of torturing a married woman for dowry and shaming the relationship for rape by her father-in-law has come to light in Ranipur Kotwali. The victim’s complaint was ignored by the police. This was challenged in the court. Following this, the police registered a case on the court’s order.
According to the information received, the case is from the village of Garh Meerpur. The victim told in police investigation that her family members had given dowry based on their financial status, but her in-laws were not pleased.
Her Jeth and Jethani began harassing her after only a few days of marriage. The family members were also supported by the husband.
The victim claimed that her father-in-law sexually assaulted and raped her after the dowry demand was not met.
According to the victim, she went to the police but did not file a report. She then knocked on the courthouse door.
On Wednesday, the police registered a case against the accused based on a court order. The matter is now being investigated by police.
