New Delhi: An eight-year-old girl who went missing two weeks ago was found dead near the Yamuna Khadar area in New Delhi, informed the police on Sunday.

As per a report of the news agency PTI, the girl went missing on August 5 from her residence in central Delhi. Following which, the father filed a complaint with the police.

The police said the dead body of the girl was found in the forest area on August 18. The dead body has been sent for the post mortem to know if the victim was raped.

Meanwhile, a case of kidnapping and murder has been registered.

As per the preliminary investigation, the police has suspected that the crime has been committed by a close relative. It also occurred to the police that the girl was gagged and then, the culprit had slit her throat.

An official informed that a suspect has been detained in the matter.
