Jaipur, Rajasthan: In a shocking case from Rajasthan, a minor was sold by her stepfather. The stepfather sold his 14-year-old stepdaughter to a 40-year-old man for Rs 3 lakh. The 40-yr-old then married the minor. For 9 months, the man harassed the victim of child marriage. He used to severely beat her whenever she protested. The victim managed to escape from the house on Wednesday, bringing the situation to light.
This case of stepfather and husband cruelty comes from Jaipur’s Jawahar Circle police station. On Wednesday night, the Bachpan Bachao Andolan team received information about a young girl who was inebriated and lying in Jawahar Circle. The team arrived on the scene and notified the police. Following this, there were numerous shocking revelations.
The victim’s ordeal
When the Bachpan Bachao Andolan team attempted to approach the girl, she began to flee. The team’s women explained him lovingly and forced him to sit beside them. After a while of talking, she burst into tears. She sobbed as she revealed that she had escaped her husband’s clutches. The women of the Bachpan Bachao Andolan team were taken aback when they heard the little girl say the word husband.
Following that, the victim revealed in counselling that she is a Dholpur district resident. She is fourteen years old. Her stepfather began harassing her by beating her after her mother died and used to say, “You’ve become a burden to me.” For a long time, the victim was tortured by her stepfather. She had finished 10th grade and wanted to continue her education, but her father offered her a deal.
A person from another village near his village paid three lakh rupees for him. He was 40 years old when he married the same person on December 11, 2021. She had been living at her in-laws’ house since then. For 9 months, the minor’s husband raped her. He does all of his household chores. The accused would severely beat her up if she refused to do household chores or maintain a relationship.
In counselling, the victim stated that she was tired of her husband’s harassment. She attempted suicide several times but was unsuccessful. She tried to flee from my in-laws’ house but was unsuccessful. She ran away and lay down at Jawahar Circle on Wednesday as soon as she had the chance. What happened to me, she said, should never happen to anyone else.
