New Delhi: The Delhi Police has implemented Section 144 within northeast Delhi for the upcoming G20 event. This strategic measure aims to maintain law and order while preventing any unexpected situations that may disturb the region’s peace.

According to a notification, the deputy commissioner of police has imposed various restrictions under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). It is worth noting that the particular location was previously devastated by communal rioting in the year 2020, making the implementation of these precautions all the more critical.

The major goal of issuing this order is to efficiently deal with any potential unrest, violence, or actions that may disrupt the prevailing peacefulness within the national capital during the G20 events. By establishing these limits, the authorities hope to ensure the safety of both inhabitants and visitors.

This order can be renewed and extended based on a thorough assessment of the current situation. A high-ranking police official emphasised the significance of undertaking a thorough examination to see whether the need for its re-issuance exists.
