Rajasthan: Bhimrao Ambedkar’s statue controversy in Bharatpur, Rajasthan People started pelting stones at the police who reached the spot to control the crowd that blocked the road in Bharatpur’s Nadbai area on Wednesday night. Police released tear gas shells to control the crowd.
The statue was installed in three places in the Nadbai municipality. For this, a committee was constituted under the chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner. The committee decided that the statue of Maharaja Surajmal was to be installed at Kumher Square, Ambedkar’s statue at Bailara Square, and Lord Parshuram’s statue at Nagar Square. But the local people are demanding that the statue of Maharaja Surajmal should be installed instead of Ambedkar at Bailara Square.

The government swung into action after protests by the local people and sent local MLA Joginder Singh Awana and Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh to convince them. After the meeting, it was decided that Surajmal’s statue would be installed at the Bailara intersection. But after the agreement, minister Vishvendra Singh said in a press conference that, according to the suggestion of the committee, a statue of Ambedkar would be installed at the Ballara intersection and Surajmal’s statue would be installed at the Dehra Mod intersection.
After the press conference of Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh and MLA Joginder Awana, some people expressed dissatisfaction in the Ballara area. After this people put fuel on the road at the Ballara intersection and set it on fire. After the incident of arson, the policemen present on the spot extinguished the fire and opened the way. But after this people started pelting stones at the police. Police released tear gas shells to control the crowd.
