Rajasthan: A 16-year-old student from Kota, Rajasthan, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the hostel room on Wednesday. This was the third suicide case within a month; he was preparing for the all-India pre-medical entrance test.
The 16-year-old had arrived in Kota from Bihar’s Nalanda a month before to prepare for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate).
In Kota this year, eight kids committed suicide. Suicides have been attributed to mental stress and academic pressure. On May 11, a 15-year-old Uttar Pradesh kid was discovered hanging from his hostel room’s ceiling fan. It was the second suicide in the coaching hub in four days. In Kota, 15 coaching students committed suicide last year.
Over 225000 students are expected to be receiving coaching in Kota for entrance exams to medical and engineering schools.
