Punjab: An unidentified woman stole a newborn baby from the hospital in Ludhiana. The incident took place at Mother and Child Hospital in Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital in the early morning of Monday.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman entered the premises professing to hunt for a relative who had been taken to the hospital. She sat the four-day-old baby in her lap, pretended to play with him, and then abruptly walked away with him at 3.15 a.m. The police still have been unable to locate the woman and newborn.

The incident was captured on CCTV camera at the hospital when the woman was leaving with the kid in her arms. The mother immediately raised the alarm and informed the police.

Shabnam, from the Karabara neighbourhood of Ludhiana, was distraught. She had given birth to a son following three daughters, and her family has asked the public for any information that could lead to the location of her son. She claimed that when she raised the alarm, the medical staff intimidated her.

A case has been filed, according to Sub-Inspector Amritpal Sharma, the SHO at Division No. 2 police station. The suspected woman entered the hospital with a male accomplice at about 12:04 am, according to the police.
