Pune: A 52-year-old man was hacked to death by three minors in Pune’s Baramati in front of his daughter. The three accused a sharp object to kill the man.

The Police have arrested the trio who confronted that they had an enmity with the son of the deceased.

During the incident, the father had gone to bring the daughter from school. The deceased has been identified as Shashikant Karande. The three minors committed the crime when they had gone to bring their daughter from school.

The daughter of the deceased lodged an FIR against the three accused. Baramati City Police Assistant Inspector Umesh Dandile said that Karande was on his way to pick up his daughter from school when the three accused chased him and killed him with sharp weapons.

All three minors confessed their crime

Inspector Sunil Mahadik said, “Three minors have admitted their involvement in the murder. The three accused had an old enmity with Karande’s son. Before the murder, Karande had asked the three accused to end the quarrel with his son.”

The inspector further said after this, one of the accused had threatened the son of the deceased on social media. On the other hand, Pune Rural SP Abhinav Deshmukh said that under Section 15 of the Juvenile Justice Act, we will request the Juvenile Justice Board to allow the minors involved in the murder to be presented as adults. Murder is heinous in nature.

Assistant Inspector Dandile said that there was an old enmity between Karande’s son and the main accused. Karande’s son and the main accused had a dispute in May over a friendship with a college student. The main accused and his two accomplices had then assaulted him. Karande’s son had lodged a complaint with the police and we also took action against the three.

Dandile said that Karande’s daughter told the police that her brother had no contact with the accused since the incident of assault and police action. He told that on August 7, a threatening message had come on his father’s mobile. Threats were made in the message without naming his brother.

Daughter said – sought help but no one came forward

The daughter of the deceased told that she was waiting for her father after school leave. After a while he sees that his father is covered in blood and he is running to save his life while the three accused are running after him. The girl said that her father cried for help, but no one came forward. The three accused fled after his father fainted. Karande had injuries to his head, neck, back and legs. After the incident, Karande was taken to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
