Rudrapur: Around two weeks ago, a startling instance emerged from Uttarakhand’s Kichha. In a second straight action, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar Police on December 8 raided an unethical flesh trade operating under the pretext of another spa establishment. In this case, six persons were arrested, including the spa center’s owner, with a large amount of undesirable material. At the same time, four women who had been ensnared in the quagmire of prostitution were released.

According to police, on the orders of the district’s SSP, Inspector Basanti Arya, in charge of the Anti Human Trafficking Unit, raided the information of unethical activities that had been going on for a long time at The Relax Spa Centre, which is located ahead of Roadways Chowk in the Kinchha police station area.

During this time, six youths and four girls, including the spa center’s operator, were caught doing immoral work. When the operator was questioned, he was told that the spa center’s owner is Jatin, a Faridabad resident. Jatin had brought two others from Faridabad, Gurgaon to Rudrapur. While the girls admitted during interrogation that they were destitute at home, Jatin and Naval had brought them under the guise of paying them salary, but later stated that they would be given a percentage of the money earned from customers in exchange for conducting unethical activity. On refusal, the girls were threatened with dismissal from the spa centre. As a result, they were forced to do unethical work for money.

Action was also taken against the spa centre for failing to maintain customer information, failing to keep the therapist’s certificate on file, and failing to obtain police verification. In Police Station Kichha, charges were registered against the accused under Section 370 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3/4/5/6/7 of the Immoral Business Prevention Act, 1956.
