Gurugram: In the Gurugram district, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is promoting insurance for Kharif season crops. Farmers have the opportunity to insure their crops until July 31. The responsibility of crop insurance has been assigned to the Agriculture Insurance Company.
DC Nishant Kumar explained that any farmer can apply for Kharif crop insurance under the scheme. Those who prefer not to participate can submit a written application to their bank. Previously, separate insurance schemes were prescribed for loanee and non-loanee farmers. Now, the government has exempted even the loanee farmers from this requirement.
For Kharif crop insurance in the district, the premium amounts have been set at ₹4929.75 per hectare for cotton, ₹1927.42 per hectare for paddy, ₹929.12 per hectare for millet, and ₹988.42 per hectare for maize.
The DC encouraged the farmers to take advantage of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, as it offers compensation for crop damage caused by lightning, hailstorm, waterlogging, and other natural factors. In case of crop loss, farmers need to inform the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department within 72 hours, using the prescribed format. For any inquiries about the scheme, farmers can contact the toll-free number 18001802117 or reach out to the concerned bank and agriculture department.
