Noida: Amid the ongoing rise in water level in Delhi's Yamuna following incessant rains, police officials on Sunday issued an alert amid a rise in the water level of the Hindon River. Police officials reached the spot and instructed the locals to be wary of the flood. The rise in water level was so significant that water entered into low-lying houses of Noida. While making an announcement, Sureshrao Kulkarni, Additional Commissioner of Police said, "Water entered some houses in the low-lying areas...as a precautionary measure, people have been evacuated to a safer place. The situation is normal at the moment and we are monitoring the water level and spreading awareness about it." The Hindon River, a tributary of the Yamuna River, had been experiencing high water levels. At 10:00 pm on Friday, the water level in the Yamuna River at Old Railway Bridge, situated in the national capital, remained above the danger mark, reaching 205.48 meters. This came after a series of receding days, during which the water level had decreased. However, on Friday evening, the water level in the Yamuna once again surpassed the danger mark, reaching 205.33 meters. The discharge of water from Hathni Kund Barrage had previously surged to approximately 3,60,000 cusecs on July 11. However, as of 7:00 pm on Friday, the hourly water discharge has reduced significantly to 29,973 cusecs.
