Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh): A man was allegedly tortured to death in police custody who was suspicious of being involved in a case related to ATM forgery. The incident took place at Radha Nagar Police Station in Fatehpur.

On October 9, the man was found in a bad shape after he was beaten up mercilessly for four days in custody. Satendra Kumar was taken to hospital as his health condition started deteriorating.

On reaching hospital, the authorities declared the victim was brought dead.

Family alleges Police to demand money to dismiss cases 

Soon after the family was informed about the death of Satendra, they reached the police station and protested against the police.

Meanwhile, elder brother of Satendra, Arvind Kumar, claimed that the police demanded 3 lakh rupees to free him. The police said that Satendra was charged of 18 cases which, Arvind, said never heard about. He accused an SI to demand the money.

He mentioned his conversation with Satendra on call during police custody when the latter told that ‘anything bad could happen with me’.

Arvind said Satendra had no illness before and he was fit.
