There is exciting news for commuters, as the much-awaited Patna Metro project is advancing at full speed. The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government is expected to inaugurate the metro service by August 2025. Notably, this is the first metro project in the state. In the initial phase, the metro trains are scheduled to run across five stations, from Malahi Pakri to the New ISBT.
Key Details Of Patna Metro Project
This service will cater to the residents of Patna and ease their travel experience across the city. The nearly 6-kilometer long priority corridor of Patna Metro has five elevated metro stations. These include Malahi Pakri, Khemni chak, Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and New ISBT metro stations. Once operational, it will allow residents to reach Bairiya Bus Stand from Malahi Pakri in 15 minutes by metro.
The Patna metro service will ease the traffic congestion on roads and provide relief to the commuters. It will also boost connectivity in the region.
As per reports, the civil work has been completed on the priority corridor. Now, track laying and the purchase of train sets will take place. Along with this, the work of electric and telecom signaling will also begin soon.
The construction of the Patna Metro project is being overseen by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The Patna Metro consists of two primary corridors: the East-West Corridor and the North-South Corridor—covering a combined length of approximately 31 km and featuring a total of 24 stations.
Patna Metro: A Step Towards Change!
Earlier, on 11 December, Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin visited the construction site of priority corridor and wrote on X, “Patna Metro: A step towards change!
