The woman in question, Anshu Kumar, had disappeared almost a month ago, prompting her family to initiate comprehensive search efforts in an attempt to locate her, reported Times of India (TOI).
Last week, the police discovered a girl’s body in a nearby canal, and Anshu’s family believed it to be her due to the clothing, as her face was unrecognizable.
However, after news of her supposed demise spread, Anshu contacted her father to inform him that she was alive and had eloped to marry.
“Anshu had eloped with her boyfriend and married him, presently residing with her in-laws in the same district,” TOI quoted Akbarpur Station House Officer (SHO) Suraj Prasad as saying.
