Rohtas: Seven people were killed and five others were injured after an SUV hit a truck parked roadside in Bihar’s Rohtas district on Wednesday morning, police said.

Among the dead, six were members of the same family.

As per officials, the accident took place at 4 a.m. on National Highway-2 in the Shivasagar area of Sasaram city.

According to the police, there were 11 people in the SUV including the driver. The driver lost control of the vehicle due to overspeeding.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep grief over the loss of life and directed the authorities to provide proper treatment to the injured, a statement issued by the CMO said.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, a police official said.

Shivsagar Station House Officer (SHO) Rakesh Gosai informed that the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem and the two vehicles involved in the accident have been seized by the police.
