Noida: A pod taxi will run to connect to Noida International Airport and Film City. It will also connect sectors falling under the jurisdiction of the Yamuna Authority. For this, the Yamuna Development Authority has issued a global tender. Apart from India, the authority has given opportunities to companies from London, Abu Dhabi, the United Kingdom, America, South Korea, and the Netherlands to make pod taxi projects. The company that will build the pod taxi project in Jewar will also operate it.
Yamuna Authority CEO Dr Arunveer Singh said, “A global tender has been issued to become a pod taxi project. This time, apart from India, companies from London, Abu Dhabi, the United Kingdom, America, South Korea, and the Netherlands have been given the opportunity. Companies from these countries can make pod taxi projects in Jewar. Price bidding will be opened on August 10, 2023.”
He added that plans are underway to develop smooth traffic between Film City, to be built in Yamuna City, and Noida International Airport, to be built near Jewar. One of these is the pod taxi project, which will be operated for the first time in India and will be the world’s largest pod taxi route.
A 14.6-kilometre-long pod taxi facility will be developed from Sector-35 in Yamuna City to Noida International Airport. There will be 12 stations on this. 112 pod taxis will be operated on the entire route. The pod taxis will go through the residential, industrial, and institutional sectors of Yamuna City until they reach the international airport. People will be able to use pod taxis to move from one sector to another. Pod taxis can also be used to reach Jewar International Airport from the inner parts of the city.
