Noida: Noida Police, Traffic Police, ARTO, and Roadways are jointly running a campaign for the next 15 days in Noida. Under the ongoing Discipline on Road 1 campaign in the city, 197 vehicles running on the wrong side and 335 vehicles with no parking were challenged on Sunday. Also, 27 vehicles were seized. Apart from this, 36 vehicles were towed for violating traffic rules. On Saturday, the traffic police took action on a total of 1372 vehicles.
DCP (Traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav said, “It was named DISCIPLINE ON THE ROAD 1 which wrong side driving is one of the major hindrances for smooth movement of traffic in the city. We will punish violators and increase fines for repeat offenders. Under this, if school buses, dumpers, trucks, cars and other vehicles are found illegally parked inside the city main road, market, sector, or seen driving wrong, they will be reconnoitred with challan.”
He informed me that, for the first time, the challan would be done. The challan will be done at an increased rate for the second time. For the third time, the vehicle will be seized along with the challan at increased rates. Apart from the designated pick-up and drop-off points on the motorway, if the vehicle is found parked at any place or is being unloaded and boarded illegally, it will be seized by registering a case.
The drivers would be prosecuted, and police cases would be registered against those found driving in the wrong direction under Section 279 (riding on a public way) of the Indian Penal Code. Traffic personnel can impound or tow away vehicles that violate the rules. Yadav said, “During this campaign, we will ensure effective enforcement, especially in cases of wrong-side driving, parking in no-parking zones, and other illegal parking. We are removing the wrong vehicles with the crane.”
