Noida: On May 11, around 1.7 lakh people will cast votes in Gutam Bhudh Nagar for Nagar Palika, Nagar Panchayat, and Dadri Nagar Palika chairperson. On Tuesday, Dankaur district magistrate Manish Kumar Verma inspected some of the booths and urged officials to take appropriate action.
Nagar Palika elections will take place in Dadri, while Nagar Panchayat elections will take place in Dankaur, Rabupura, Bilaspur, Jewar, and Jahangirpur. There have been 12 nominations for the position of Dadri Nagar Palika chairperson.
Nominations for the chairperson’s post include incumbent Geeta Pandit of the BJP, Samajwadi Party’s Ayub Malik, Congress’ Ashok Kumar Sharma, RLD’s Azad Malik, BSP’s Ravinder Singh, AAP’s Reeta, and five independent candidates: Kaluram, Kailash Kumar, Jag Bhushan, Rajudev Sagar, and Rizwana.
The government has received seven nominations for the position of Nagar Panchayat president in Dankaur, seven in Bilaspur, eight in Jewar, and eleven in Jahangirpur.
Vandita Srivastava, ADM (finance) said, “We have made elaborate arrangements to conduct a free and fair election. In the 2017 municipal polls, there were around 1.4 lakh voters and the turnout was 63.8%. We conducted SVEEP activities at different places and this resulted in more enrolment.”
The district administration has set up 184 polling stations in 39 polling places. According to Vandita Srivastava, ADM (finance) and deputy election officer, there were 1,68,924 voters, 90,354 of them were men.
Ayub Malik, the Samajwadi Party’s candidate for chairperson of the Dadri Nagar Palika, stated that he will prioritise parking places, sanitation, and the construction of a decent sewerage network.
Vishal Bharadwaj, the media coordinator for incumbent Geeta Pandit, stated that she will rely on past performance.
