Noida: The fire in the garbage dump of Web City, located in Sector-32, Noida of the Police Station Sector-24 area, has been extinguished after 6 days. The effect of smoke in the area has also started reducing gradually. As a precaution, two fire brigade vehicles are present on the spot. The fire was brought under control on Tuesday evening. Due to the fire going on for six days, the people living in the surrounding areas were facing a lot of problems as thick and poisonous smoke was spread all around.
The CFO said that with the help of 30 vehicles from the fire department and JCB, extinguishing the fire was done on a war footing. Apart from Noida, fire engines were also called from other districts. More than 200 fire brigade personnel were present on the spot. Two borewells were dug in the dumping ground. More than 700 water tankers were used to douse the fire after which the fire was controlled.
Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey said that six days ago, there was a fire in the dumping ground of Web City, located in Noida Sector-32, due to unknown reasons. He told me that the garbage dump at Epping Gound, which caught fire, is about 30 feet deep. Due to subsidence, the water is not able to reach the lower surface properly. From above, it appears that the fire has been extinguished. But as soon as the speed of the wind increases a little, the fire starts smouldering again. The pile of garbage is vast. It also has a dumping pit choked with leaves, wood, garbage, etc.
